Experience has shown that you need to start 'long' with the radiating element. using a swr meter trim for lowest swr. A piece of aluminium or copper tubing can be substituted for folding the braid back over itself. To do this just trim off most of the braid and attach a tail of twisted braid to the tubing like a Neighbour sleve balun.
