Gary was asked last message for a ball park time - how long
03 will be off - if to long I would swap my yagi base aerial for a vertical base aerial
and put up with simplex a bit longer. It's a bugger of a 13m mast pole to pull down.

So no ball park time

ACMA say registered CBRS (citizen band repeater services) have to be...

27            Continuous use of a CB repeater station

        (1)   Subject to subsection (2), an operator must operate a CB repeater station in a manner that provides a continuously available service to a person who operates a CB station under the Radiocommunications (Citizen Band Radio Stations) Class Licence 2015.

        (2)   An operator must not operate the station, or continue to transmit from the station, if:

(a)        there is a malfunction in the station; or

(b)       the operation of the station causes harmful interference to a service provided by another station.

Going on past experiences, about a month down time is allowed to do repairs. (been two weeks now)

According to Gary Grevis while talking to me a few years ago,
he got the North Rd site from the government ON THE PROVISO
he kept the pre-existing 03 and 05 CBRS on that site running.

I bet if one of his commercial taxi repeaters
on the same site stuffed up, it would be
fixed within 12 hours.

Why does he think we can just use other (plural) "repeaters"

Gary, there are no other registered operational repeaters on the Gold Coast.

Andrew Chapman has been unregistered and gone for 3+ years.

Local walkie talkies and vehicle "users" can't get VHQ07 Brisbane, etc.

You want us to use local ABC05? That's the emergency channel that you
had to turn back on because ...drum roll ... of that govt proviso for the North Rd site.

We "users" could set-up our own legal CBRS, but the ACMA have that 20km
minimum rule between repeaters on different channels.  

Peter Tate's old 07 Tambourine site was slightly inside the 20km rule, but
was OK'ed by the ACMA as it focused more towards the Briso
and northern end of the Gold Coast.

As the coast area is so small, and ABC-03 being right in the middle of the dart board,
it LOCKS OUT anyone else from operating a local CBRS.

I have a perfect site also on Lower Beechmont, but it's to close to North Rd.

So Gary, that leaves we dozen+ local "users" at your mercy.

What do you think of them apples?  

Been two weeks already - should I send the ACMA an update
about North Rd before this roles into two months?

A good CBRS operator might even join the only local CB website and keep
we locked out North Rd site "users" updated.
