Dunno if Andrew 249 reads stuff here but this is some accurate info for you Andrew and others rather than gossip and his or her say:
Unlike us northern coasters you Southerners have a solution for communications. Gary still holds the license up here and seems to be dragging out his repairs for abc03 but you southerners are in the clear..
The channel 04 Springbrook repeater that Chappo held and operated was sold as you know and the license surrendered by Chappo about 12 months ago so any information on any hopeless government or database websites are outdated and not current obviously because of there staff cuts.
You can definitely call up Radspec and get a ch.4 CB repeater back up on Springbrook. All it will take is about $600 to get the license issued and site allocation registered, and about $3,000 a year for the site rental from Philcomm. So there it is, no need for rumors or talk as you have the facts now. That is how you can do it, all you need to do now is ACT and pay pay pay up!!

GL.

BTW: Gary. G did NOT call any knowledgeable radio operator since abc03 has been offline. So those "rumors" where Gary called someone for advise to rectify the reason why abc03 repeater is "supposedly" switched off is a load of shit. Nobody knows exactly why ch.3 is switched off and the only thing we can go by at this time was Gary himself told ME over the phone that the repeater has antenna and cable that is 11 years old and it is stuffed. He said he will be replacing the antennas and cable which requires a cherry picker at the site and costs lots of $$$ due to new insurance and health and safety legislation crap now in effect. He said we will have abc03 repeater back on but never told me when. My "theory" is that Gary at this time doesn't want to have the expense and time loss to do this and is dragging this out as long as he can.
