Yes cOOter mine is running from a 5v phone charger, they draw only 700mA max anyway. You need a powered USB hub for things like external HDD's etc. And yep, any wireless chipset that is supported by Linux should work. I have a few to try when I get a hub in the next day or 2.
I cant spare any of the 3 hubs on my desktop PC!
I have mine plugged into my switch at the moment on twisted pair.
I also have a case on order as I don't like the poor little thing floating about on my desk when nasty things live and might short it out, besides the case was $7 free postage from Sydney!
