Thinking about it (I got bored) I'd only need the one Gayofag,
as the radio already in the car has a speaker output.

Trouble is installing a 10v source for the Gayofag
charging cradle and an easily mounted 6db onto the tow bar.

Only leads I have atm are stereo male -- male 3.5mm
ones which didn't work on a test before.

It will have to be a mono male -- male 3.5mm
with  Wood_chop 20Db dieload  tip.

Shit, I might just  Phone Mr  Glasses11

Nice bubble

Your baofeng repeater lead needs to have 3.5mm at one end and 2.5mm on the other end

Gary was asked last message for a ball park time - how long
03 will be off - if to long I would swap my yagi base aerial for a vertical base aerial
and put up with simplex a bit longer. It's a bugger of a 13m mast pole to pull down.

So no ball park time Granny

ACMA say registered CBRS (citizen band repeater services) have to be...

Quote:27            Continuous use of a CB repeater station

        (1)   Subject to subsection (2), an operator must operate a CB repeater station in a manner that provides a continuously available service to a person who operates a CB station under the Radiocommunications (Citizen Band Radio Stations) Class Licence 2015.

        (2)   An operator must not operate the station, or continue to transmit from the station, if:

(a)        there is a malfunction in the station; or

(b)       the operation of the station causes harmful interference to a service provided by another station.

Going on past experiences, about a month down time is allowed to do repairs. (been two weeks now)

According to Gary Grevis while talking to me a few years ago,
he got the North Rd site from the government ON THE PROVISO
he kept the pre-existing 03 and 05 CBRS on that site running.

I bet if one of his commercial taxi repeaters
on the same site stuffed up, it would be
fixed within 12 hours.

Why does he think we can just use other (plural) "repeaters" Confused2

Gary, there are no other registered operational repeaters on the Gold Coast.

Andrew Chapman has been unregistered and gone for 3+ years.

Local walkie talkies and vehicle "users" can't get VHQ07 Brisbane, etc.

You want us to use local ABC05? That's the emergency channel that you
had to turn back on because ...drum roll ... of that govt proviso for the North Rd site.

We "users" could set-up our own legal CBRS, but the ACMA have that 20km
minimum rule between repeaters on different channels.  Book1

Peter Tate's old 07 Tambourine site was slightly inside the 20km rule, but
was OK'ed by the ACMA as it focused more towards the Briso
and northern end of the Gold Coast.

As the coast area is so small, and ABC-03 being right in the middle of the dart board,
it LOCKS OUT anyone else from operating a local CBRS.

I have a perfect site also on Lower Beechmont, but it's to close to North Rd.

So Gary, that leaves we dozen+ local "users" at your mercy.

What do you think of them apples?  Confused4

Been two weeks already - should I send the ACMA an update
about North Rd before this roles into two months?

A good CBRS operator might even join the only local CB website and keep
we locked out North Rd site "users" updated.

Years ago Gary told me ABC03 uses a Unilab KL450 repeater.

Here's what one looks like.

Geez, for $30 we can buy a 450mhz one from
a Geelong ham club.

http://vk3atl.org/for-sale/

Chopper copy, ya reckon the 450mhz one for sale
would be good for parts?

Or maybe even able to stretch out to 477mhz for CB use?

User manuals https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0...WdCazdjLUk

I might buy it and have it shipped to Gary's home
to drop a bit of a hint.

It looks like there is more than one version of the KL450 each with a different designed band from 335 to 520MHz, from versions A to F.

You'd probably also need a set of cavity filters to use it as a serious repeater as well. Not cheap.

Although you could use 2 verticals stacked one the one mast or separated by a fair distance.

As to how hard it is to convert one from a band close to 476Mhz, I have no idea as ive never seen one before but at $30 its worth the bits inside alone  Tears

The Gay O Fang idea seems a lot easier to me.

cOOter's wet dream to break away from Gary ...

1 Controller - for ident, time outs and such (but at what price????)

2 Unilab KL 450-D repeater - fark ya can't go wrong for $30 if one can be found

3 Power supply - one of those 28 amp switching 13.8v deals. I already have that.

Then a pole with two dipole aerials?

I have heaps of new LMR 400 coax.

Or just one dipole aerial with a cheap duplexer??

4. DUPLEXER $90 new from China
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/UHF-380-512MH...Swj0NUdGyb

Chopper, ya reckon these $90 duplexers would work?

5. And a FREE small fridge from Gumtree modified for security and weather.

----------------------

Two Gayofags would use less juice.

Confusedeven:'s one sounds OK. No worse than the broken ABC03 repeater.

But I'm guessing the ACMA wont allow them for a legal set-up.

The hard part is the $1,000 ACMA annual fee.

Hey  :dimmock:, ya gonna chip in half with me?

I guess Gary would get that back each year as a business expense.

A site is easy to find, but not so easy outside of the 20km rule.

Fark, back to depending on Gary again  Sad5

Is it a hand held model?

That would make a good mobile  :burka: repeater, but I doubt the ACMA
would be OK with those for a legal base repeater.

I'm guessing the old Unilab would also fail on paper for a new license.
