I got 80 channels in it now, but on wide band as I haven't figured out how to change that yet or do the 5 to 25 trick.  Toothy3

Choppers FPP version and the ones from Yahoo groups didn't match the hardware code of this radio  Glasses11
The working FPP ended up being a 8030 version on Dom's mega mix disc - it ran sweet on me P4 laptop in the native XP NTFS environment.

Good shit,  that's a good start.    Icon_thumright

Not 100% but you might not be able to adjust it all to operate correctly on both.  You will just program the 12.5kHz in as you did and that's that in terms of spacing.  The only thing to do really is to set the incoming and outgoing narrow band deviation accordingly and you may have to replace the filters to do so i dunno,  it could be a big pain in the arse so you may need to just put up with audio cutting out and at times people coming in with very low audio,  no big deal where we are really because we only use Wide band currently..
Chopper u got any insight on this??  Icon_thumright

Umm, that PRMs & modification page has all the info for that and how to do the high power trick..  Put your milk bottle glasses on and start reading!!  GL  Tears

Narrow band PRM80s (12.5kHz) have a different filters installed in them to the wide band version (25kHz) I cant remember if there's any other differences, Andrew 249 would probably know.

You can program a wide band to do 12.5kHz channel spacing but its still a wide band radio and so will have some bleed over as a result. So if you program it with the normal UHF CB 80 channels you'll get bleed over from adjacent channels.

You could change the filters but that's a pretty big job as they are surface mounted and tiny little buggers, or you could change the RF board for one that is from a 12.5KHz radio of the right band.

To fiddle with power settings you need to change the hardware code then change power settings, then change hardware code back to what it was.

Yeah that's what i thought,  not even worth it as now as it works perfect where we operate anyway.  No point worrying about the full narrow in the future crap as 1. We might not even be here at that time,  and 2.  If we are here,  im sure by then you will have a newer radio or had moved on from radio all together.    Tears

Marget that.  Blonde

I used ta do it on my old 8040, but I cant find the drop down hardware code section in this 8030 FPP v4 software.

It's probably done in the FP software? I'd check but I've been rather lazy toady  Happy1 and watching movies.

Hey Chopper,  im guessing that when you go VHF and select High to trick it it is a pre set output the same as Low for CB etc..  Is there a way to manually select the output specifically?  Like for e.g  Select low CB channels which would be around 5w,  what if i want 3-4w ??    Is there a manual adjustable pot inside for that do u know??  The old Taits have that..    Chicken

Yeah obviously,  its a "CB" website.  lol      THEY allow to much power for CB,  so id like to lower it from 5w to about 1-2w to save electricity.  Sign13    Cool,  you can tell me tomorrow!!    Debilos-1
