PROJECT: DSE HAND HELD AERIAL HACK

In this project we're looking to replace the non removable DSE hand held aerial and replace it with an external aerial connector.

Chopper copy - Does this idea look shit?

The left top is the negative at the batteries and used as a ground to the aerial plug.

Top right is the center aerial plug contact.

I haven't put it back together yet. Is this an abortion?

 Hey Cooter, just be careful when dealing with such Hi power equipment,  the massive RF could hurt you!  



Cool, that will work but i would of fitted an SMA or BNC / TNC socket instead due to the size,   You could still attach your normal pl259 plug you would just use an adapter but if you can secure that big so239 on there that's good and fully sik no adapters required..      

P.S  Id have no chance doing any of that nor would i try..      lmao

I cant see why it wouldnt work. I would try and find an earthing point a bit closer to your antenna connection though, at UHF CB frequencies that length of wire might cause troubles. Also I would maybe choose a BNC socket instead of the SO239 if only for the size, but better performance as well. There's my thoughts. But good on ya for having a go! Plenty wouldnt and be too scared to try.   :blob9:

I had a thought, yeah I know they are rare!  If you have a decko at the tracks on the circuit board of the radio, its almost a sure bet that near the edge will be an earthing point, if not try some of the tin shielding. If in doubt crack out the multimeter and check. 

What? That would work?

It's the 1/2 watt GCCB ident radio...LOL, that will be on the yagis. it only needs to transmit for a few seconds each hour.

The original Jaycar CB "antenna"  looks more like a dummy load to me  :toothy9:

What black text?  Yeah I thought it was a bit ahrd to see too... at laest ya must have looked at it though!
